Laser Skin Rejuvenation/Photorejuvenation
Photorejuvenation is a non-invasive cosmetic procedure that helps treat a variety of skin conditions like hyperpigmentation, acne and sun damage. The treatment requires little recovery time and minimal to no side effects. At Sudbury Med Spa, we offer a variety of photorejuvenation treatments that can help to restore the natural beauty of your skin.
What Does the Photorejuvenation Treatment Entail?
Photorejuvenation uses lasers, intense pulsed light, or photodynamic therapy to penetrate the skin and stimulate collagen production. It can be used on any part of the body and helps rejuvenate aging skin with discoloration.
Intense pulsed light treatments (IPL)
This is an extremely powerful light that releases light deep into the skin. The wide range of wavelengths used in IPL treatment makes it especially useful for people with multiple skin issues and extensive discoloration spanning the face, arms or back. Unlike a laser which just uses one wavelength of light, an IPL uses multiple. This also makes IPL therapy less damaging to the skin.
Light-emitting diode treatment (LED)
LED photofacials are differentiated from IPl by the procedure used. Unlike IPL which uses a broad spectrum light, LED facials use different colors and wavelengths targeted to the specific skin issue. LED facials to use blue light for acne treatment, red for collagen stimulation, and fine lines treatment.
What are the Steps Involved in a Photorejuvenation Procedure?
During the treatment, your eyes will first be covered with a protective shield. Before beginning the treatment, a cold gel will be applied to your face. In case of an IPL treatment, a handpiece will be moved around your skin’s target area. With IPL, you may experience mild discomfort or tingling and with LED treatment, there is no discomfort at all. Once the treatment is completed, a cold compress and sunscreen will be applied to your face.
