Botox

BotoxFacial wrinkles, creases, folds, and fine lines appear as we age. They can make us not only look older but feel older as well. If you’re tired of noticing new age lines whenever you look in the mirror and you want to restore your smooth skin, you may be interested in Botox.

What Is Botox?

Botox is a drug derived from the botulinum toxin, which is found in a certain type of bacterium called Clostridium botulinum. Botox has many important uses in the medical and cosmetic fields.

In the medical field, Botox is used to address numerous issues. People utilize Botox to treat conditions such as excessive sweating, muscular disorders, bowel and bladder disorders, and even migraines.

In the cosmetic field, Botox can smooth away fine wrinkles and delay future wrinkles from forming by temporarily paralyzing the facial muscles that are responsible for certain facial movements. Botox injections are the most popular minimally invasive cosmetic treatments in the beauty industry. Over six million Botox procedures are administered on an annual basis.

How Does Botox Work?

Botox injections prevent nerve signals that your brain sends to your facial muscles from reaching them. By doing this, the contracted muscles that are responsible for causing wrinkles like frown lines, crow’s feet, and forehead furrows can relax, allowing the skin to be smooth again.

So happy to have Sudbury Med Spa in town! Natalie, the owner, is so kind, welcoming and knowledgeable. So is Dr. Le, who did a great job with my Botox. I’m very happy with the results. Up until now I have been going to a med spa in Boston — not anymore. This is so much more convenient. I’ll be back and would highly recommend!

Your Botox Treatment

Typically, a Botox treatment will take around 15 minutes to perform, making it quite convenient. At the start of your Botox procedure, the areas that are being targeted for treatment will be marked. In some cases, the areas being treated will be numbed for your general comfort.

Once any numbing has taken place, a tiny needle will be used to inject the Botox into the treatment areas. The number of injections that your doctor will administer primarily depends on the areas that are being treated, among other factors. Botox injections rarely cause discomfort in the patient. Instead, you’ll feel tingly at the injection site while the Botox is being administered.

After Your Treatment

While surgical procedures will often require a patient to take time off of work and experience downtime, injectable treatments do not. You can go about your day right after your Botox procedure. Many patients come in for it during their lunch breaks and then return to work.

Follow your doctor’s post-treatment instructions to the letter. Don’t rub or scratch at the treated areas, as this could lead to the product migrating to different areas of your face and resulting in complications.

Your Results

You will start noticing results a few days after your first appointment, with full results appearing around seven to ten days from the treatment date. The effects of Botox can last anywhere from three to four months, depending on the areas that were treated. In order to maintain the results of your injections, you’ll need to book follow-up treatments.
